Youth Education Packets |
MASWCD developed a youth education packet that the local SWCD's distribute and provide to their area schools. The packets include information which teachers and their students can use to become more familiar with their natural environment to learn what they can do to become better stewards of our land and water. The packets also include information about contests that students can participate in. |

The Soil Stewardship Program |
This program helps Americans learn to conserve our natural resources. For fifty years a national network of conservation districts has helped promote soil stewardship by providing materials to local churches and schools to help celebrate, "Soil Stewardship Week". Stewardship week is one of the largest national annual programs to promote conservation. The materials we furnish free of charge are found on the National Association of Conservation District's website, www.stewardshipweek.com The theme for stewardship week changes every year. |

Environmental Day Camp |
For the past ten years, the Blue Earth County Soil and Water Conservation District, along with the Environmental Services and Extension offices, have held an Environmental Day Camp for grade 5-6. This outdoor learning experience was held at the Blue Earth County Fairgrounds in Garden City in the fall of the year. The Mission Statement was to "explore the Earth by involving students in outdoor activities about nature, art, and the effects of their choices on the environment". Because of health issues in our committee, we had to discontinue this camp. However, we currently participate in Faribault Counties Environmental Day Camp by having one of the sessions on water quality. |
