Welcome to the Maple River Watershed Improvement Website.
The Maple River is located in the Le Sueur River Basin in south central Minnesota. It encompasses 342 square miles in Blue Earth and Faribault Counties.
A watershed is a body of water (e.g. Maple River, Le Sueur River) and all the land that drains into it. No mater where you live, you live in a watershed. Anyone who lives, works or plays in the watershed has an impact. We've found that the rivers, lakes and streams of the Maple River Watershed have excess nutrients, sediments, and fecal coliform bacteria.
This projects goal is to promote best management practices associated with the project and to increase the public's awareness about high pollutant loads. |
